Surviving Election Season: Staying sane during Election Chaos!
Are you feeling overwhelmed by the chaos of election season? You’re not alone! With constant news updates, social media debates, and political ads flooding our lives, it’s easy to lose your sanity. I’ve got 3 simple tips and strategies to help us navigate the madness of this election season.
3 Tips to navigating Election Season:
1. Take a deep breath. Remember, it’s okay to step back. Placing some healthy boundaries to reduce your stress levels and easy emotional exhaustion is very much allowed! Let others know you would like to connect in others areas of interest that are not political as you need a break for that day. Again, you are allowed to take a break and breath outside of politics. Try limiting your news intake to avoid information overload. Pick one reliable source and stick to it.
2. Engage with politics mindfully. Instead of arguing with others on social media or in real life. Try to have a meaningful conversation with friends. Focus on understanding different perspectives rather than trying to change minds. We don’t all have to agree, in fact we can learn from each other if we would take hard line politics out of our discussions on the issues that matter. If you need help with having this kind of conversation, I have a wonderful free tool for you that has 25 phrases to use for political conversations. https://euphonywithin.com/politicalphrases
3.Don't forget to prioritize self-care. Go for a walk, meditate, or dive into a good book. Finding joy in your daily life can provide a welcome escape from the political frenzy. Sometimes living your life in a way that has a positive impact on your community and those around you is the BEST policy we can have!
Bonus tip: Remember that this too shall pass. Elections cycles come and go, but your mental health is important year-round. Stay informed, but don’t let it consume you. It’s okay to have differing opinions and outlooks, no one should be bullied into voting one way or another!
